It's times like these I miss my days in London.  Walking in and out of galleries and museums, expense free, open to explore and shift with encounterment of others creations.  The Tate modern is just such a spectacular place and in my one year in London, I think I absorbed more art than my 5 years in New York (I was also in school and not working).  This exhibition of Yayoi Kusama's work makes me long for a flight oversea.  I love love interactive experiential work!

oh what fun it is to be a woman! This week, every day I am going to show a little fashion clip from a different decade in our fashinista history.

little birds...

I was walking to work today, thinking to myself "Why am I here in this city?  What to I want from it" and alas saw this little bird.  It was so happy and content in the coldness (well, it looked happy in my human projection) I thought that if this little creature could pick away at the red berries merrily, I too could find some peace today.

What are some things that inspire you?  Where are lessons of gratitude and humility found? Here are some of mine.

My little bird today.

Michael's amazing work.

I was talking to my good friend Michael yesterday about how we have constructed our identity throughout the years as artist or photographer (insert any word).  At times, it is hard to know how much I care about the actual craft (is it an inner voice I can't live without?) or if it is the identity - the community to understand the self and a word used for the world to understand me.  I wrote a bit about this in grad school, that the community, especially the academic community of the arts was a very healing place for me.  It was one of the only places I felt I could thrive. A place of acceptance and emotion, of dreaming, where I was asked to ask. With this I could feel a pride in my capabilities or at least supported within my community at least to try.  Is that the passion and drive?  Or is it the work and the craft.  Time tells all...

"Perhaps art is a quest for the perfect, or even the imperfect. Reality always falls short on both sides."
