Happiness

via

Here is a nice little post on happiness:
1. Give up your need to always be right....
2. Give up your need for control...
3. Give up on blame...
4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk...
5. Give up your limiting beliefs...
6. Give up complaining....
7. Give up the luxury of criticism....
8. Give up your need to impress others...
9. Give up your resistance to change. ...
10. Give up labels...
11. Give up on your fears...
12. Give up your excuses...
13. Give up the past...
14. Give up attachment...
15. Give up living your life to other people’s expectations...

Inspirational company

How inspiring is this story and project? Lesson to be learned, if you eat the right ice cream, it's never a bad thing!

‘There’s no room to dream when survival is the only goal. You can’t just rebuild roads; you have to repair people, and show that life is good."

Beautiful home

I am not sure where you are sitting on a Monday morning, but I am at my office in Tribeca.  The light is amazing and the room quite.  I wonder, where are you?

Let's all go here, shall we?  I love these antique mirrors and, and, and, and all of it.

Weekend

I hope everyone had a wonderful easter, passover, sunny weekend!  Once again Ben and I headed to Beacon.  We had renters in our house (love Airbnb).   We watched Games of Thrones, took a long bike ride along the Hudson Valley Rail Trail, had a picnic along the way, went to Beacon's new bar "The Hop" for their official grand opening, cooked amazing kale and couscous dinner and sat in the sun talking and breathing fresh air.  Exactly what weekends are made for.

What makes your perfect weekend?

Words

“I'm not telling you to make the world better, because I don't think that progress is necessarily part of the package. I'm just telling you to live in it. Not just to endure it, not just to suffer it, not just to pass through it, but to live in it. To look at it. To try to get the picture. To live recklessly. To take chances. To make your own work and take pride in it. To seize the moment. And if you ask me why you should bother to do that, I could tell you that the grave's a fine and private place, but none I think do there embrace. Nor do they sing there, or write, or argue, or see the tidal bore on the Amazon, or touch their children. And that's what there is to do and get it while you can and good luck at it.”  Joan Didion

Song of the week.

My friends in Akron family can always open my heart...

A beautiful collaboration between artist Aurel Schmidt and write Franz Wright in their book “Reveries Of A Lost Life Mask”.

DIY cards

Speaking of growing.  How cool are these DIY cards?  They look simple and really uniquely creative.  Watch out birthdays, here I come!

Growing...

I have broken through to a new thought! Have you ever imagined little you?  Picture her (or him).  What is she wearing?  What does her hair look like? Where does she go?  What is she doing?  What would you tell her now?  I imagine myself in a pink dress and purple jellies.  I imagine her and she seems over there, another person, a little girl I remember.  Now place her inside of you.  She is you, you are her.  We forget this.  Many times my gut reactions to situations and roles in relationships  revert back to her habits and frame of mind (you are not good enough, you are ___, you are____).  Now, my adult me, adult Sarina has to help little Sarina see that she is good enough.  I have to hold her hand and hug her.

This is am amazing exercise.  I recommend doing it, playful or painful, you might just learn something.

The elements.

Top of the day!  Sooooo... I didn't make any bread. I know, I know, but there was just no time! I did make semi-decent macaroons but learned an important lesson that wax paper and parchment paper (lesson learned, wax is not oven safe) are different things.  Oh dear.

But the weekend was full of wonderful frittata, good company, a walk through Coldspring, NY (most amazing antique shipping!) and an introductory course into Game of Thrones.  Once again, Beacon did us good.

I am a bit under the weather today, so pardon the short post.  In the meantime here are some images to take you to the elements.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Gloria Steinem and thank you.

Jennifer Grey (BABY!)!  You will forever have lived my teenage dream. I am forever jealous.  (via)
Astrud Gilberto...how your voice has mesmerized. (via)Trying to make a date to see Francesca Woodman at the Guggenheim.  I love her I do.

I don't know what is going on with the political temperature of feminism, I know I don't like it and it feels like we are moving backwards (sorry Gloria!).  What I do like is this!
I am always going back and forth about wanting long locks and short style. But this hall of fame makes me yearn for long hair. I am determined to make bread this weekend as a gift to a friend.  If you don't see some pics of fresh baked goods Monday, you can yell at me. My mom got me this beautiful and tasty looking book a year ago and I have to start eating my way through it!Speaking of baking a fabbby DIY blog, A Subtle Revelry, posted these amazing bunny sticky buns for Easter. Remember the bunny cakes?  Here is a change of pace (a sticky bunny bun all to yourself!)

Call me crazy but I love these pattered Jeans from 7.

I saw this video about a year ago and watched it again yesterday. What an inspiration.  Here is to vulnerability and the courage to know we are worth it....what a good way to start the weekend.

I am heading to Beacon, NY this weekend  (again).  My good friend is celebrating his 30th on Mt. Beacon.  So very excited.  HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEPHEN!

Bisou bisou and bless...

Words of the day

"life is a single span, a continuum marked, by certain periods and creation"- In a dream I wrote this, but in reality I am not sure if it came from my head or elsewhere.
