Photographer unknown, via Turn of the Century
These are so beautiful.  Sometimes you see works that resonate within you, I feel these are already part of me.  Are the mourning, hiding, shamed, a portrait of any woman, all woman at the turn of the century?

"change can only truly happen when we stop struggling to not be what we are, and when we fully accept our experience. Once we can accept what is, the natural process of change can re-establish itself. " Alan Cohen, Gestalt Therapist

I really love this ring.  It's simple and delicate and still manages to wow!  I haven't worn silver in a long time, but the purple is really lovely.  I have a simple gold double finger ring (with a heart in the middle!) that I got at Artist and Feas the only thing is, whenever I leave New York people say "what is that a brass knuckle?".  So, I feel a lot of people are not exactly fans.  But that's A-ok, conversation is what life is about!

Just once I knew what life was for. In Boston, quite suddenly, I understood; walked there along the Charles River, watched the lights copying themselves, all neoned and strobe-hearted, opening counted the stars, my little campaigners, their mouths as wide as opera singers;  on the night green side of it and cried my scar daisies, and knew that I walked my love my heart to the eastbound cars and cried my heart to the westbound cars and took  my truth across a small humped bridge and hurried my truth, the charm of it, home  and hoarded these constants into morning only to find them gone.  ANN SEXTON

These words reminds me of my days of rowing in the Charles River, such an extraordinary point of view I was fortunate to experience.  So quite on that river (other than the coxswain!!). Just my heart against my chest, the light of dawn and dusk, the synchronicity of other peoples rhythms, my pain and my will... oh yes and the sky! Streets! City scape! Cars! Lights! Water!  Sometimes there are moments so clear with the meaning if it all, all questions evaporate and all seems just right as it is. The clandestine of all our joy and pain is gone and a such pure clarity present, then poof gone.  It is important to to remember those moments and hold on to the environments in which they are created.  Maybe we can find some peace in that.

If I were a rich girl today I would spring for a headboard!  The day when I get a proper headboard will further me into adulthood...there are more impotant things on my plate for the time being (and in focusing on them and not the headboard that is truly "adult" of me).

Love this DYI!!

I am not sure about you but when winter hits and weeks after weeks of layers and sweatpants (my fav!!), I sometime miss feeling pretty and flirtatious in my step.  At times I feel I am getting dressed to hit the slopes!  I just  want to go home and hybernate in warm cotton and wool.  Oh to be spring again ...

Though it is the perfect season to stay in and save some money.
I have been bringing my lunch to work for over two weeks now.  This is a small resolution to respect my money and health just a wee more.  The trouble is, my bag stinks (or my yoga cloths smell like tamari!) of balsamic and sometimes spills.! I have been eying this little lunch container for some time now.  I think, in the spirit of keeping this momentum going and not smelling like balsamic I will get one.

This weekend was cold!!!  But warm with pleasure.  Ben's mom visited town and we had a lovely time, cooking dinner at home and going to the movies to see The Descendants and playing with our kitties!

What did I learn?  I learned that I still don't like winter! That I should have moved to Hawaii when I bought that one way ticket (though I don't really believe in regret). I learned that I am am trying my best to do the best by everyone and myself but sometimes disappointment is part of life when you truly make actions to to what is what is best for you (as long as we do honestly and truly I believe it will be ok, right?).  I learned that taking the bus to yoga is faster!  Who thought?

Ben's mom is coming in this weekend! I think we will go to the Met or the Tenement museum, we'll will see what her heart desires  I will let you know what happens when we are on the other side.  Bless...

Happy birthday Elvis (what a hunk!)
and Bowie!!
I think I'll make this this weekend!
I am in love with my olehenriksen day cream!  I have never spent this much on a facial product, but worth the pamper (and the penny's!), it is my skin after all... Smells delicious and my skin never softer!
Give me an L-O-V-E! (I also really fancy the "h-o-m-e")
Have a blissful weekend (feel beautiful!)

you begin to meet people who are in the field of your bliss, and they open the doors to you.

Baby's Tears
Asparagus Fern

My Baby's breath is dying.  I bought it in August and all was green and lush, but now I see lots and lots of dried and brown parts near the root.  I am so sad...  One of my goals moving in June was to learn how to keep house plans and know each plants individual care.  Other than my beautiful fig tree dying, everything has gone swimmingly until now!  What to do?!  I have it in indirect, but bright light and water it regularly as I have read they like.  Oh dear...

What are some of your fav house plants?  Another favorite of mine is my asparagus ferm (that one is happy as a clam in cape cod bay).  It's light and delicate and reminds me of a green dandelion waiting to be wished upon.  Now that I live in Greenpoint, I miss Sprouted home. It is truly one of the most beautiful stores in the city.  It's worth a trip, in the cold of winter, the green makes you feel warm.

4. Blade Runner, Ridley Scott
4. Fanny and Alexander, Ingmar Bergman

I adore and admire the work  and skill of Lisa Golightly.
It evokes such a loneliness for youth.  It's universal and also indivudual.. It's playful and sad.... I want them all!
Which should I get?

I am thinking about adding some topic days to my posts?

Thoughts?

Mondays: What I learned (he's still got it!) from the weekend past and also reprioritizing the week ahead...dreams, goals, aspirations.
Tuesdays: If I were a rich girl....but I'm not and doing just fabby! Clothing, beauty, design and travel and all the colors of the make-up rainbow!
Wednesdays: FREELOVE - whatever makes our hearts sing now!
Thursdays: Eats, plants, music, film, art, words...that which calls us (like summer...)

    Outside of Ithaca, NY

I am sure these topics will shift and change as we do and our wants and world turns. I'll see how it goes and what y'all tell me you want! xoxo

Greetings world! I have been so inspired this last year so changed, letting go of so much that I held onto in fear and bringing in what which I love and loves me back. I want to share with you some inspirations and in turn gather yours.

About

Hello world!

I grew up in Boston, went to college in Ithaca, went to grad school in London and now reside in Greenpoint, Brooklyn with my boyfriend Ben, my two cats and a world around me of inspiration and love. I am a photographer by trade who recently left the full-time world working at Magnum Photos in the art market, I determined to take some risks to find happiness.

I am here to learn, share, be inspired to do good and be good. With this, I think good will come...
